Reiki works, let Reiki work for you

Reiki means "Universal Life Energy" and is made up of two Japanese characters "Rei" and "ki".

Reiki is a process of natural healing which evolved through the dedication of Dr Mikao Usui, a Japanese scholar. He studied how the ancient sages, religious teachers and mystics were able to heal and putting together elements from his finding developed a system that promotes self-healing, relaxation and reduces stress.

Reiki does not require any specific belief or religious following and so is open to anyone who has a desire to heal or be healed. It continues to be taught by Reiki Masters who have trained in the tradition passed down from Master to student

It is a non-invasive, gentle yet powerful method of healing. Reiki adjusts to the need of the recipient, promoting balance and wholeness.

A Reiki treatment takes place on a massage table fully-clothed. The practitioner works progressively around the body, holding points and/or working off the body.

The treatment lasts approximately one hour.

Let Massage Sooth Sore Muscles

It is well known that massage has been used for thousands of years, the best known being the Greeks and the Romans. There is increasingly more research being done into massage therapies, especially sports massage.

Massage get the lymphatic system moving which is of great benefit to the immune system. The circulation also benefits, taking oxygen around the body and also taking away debris laid down in the healing process. It realigns the muscle fibres and removes lactic acid that has built up from over use which can cause soreness if not removed by massage.

Sports massage is a great aid in good recovery from injury, lessening the likelihood of damage. Sports massage should be carried out by a qualified sports therapist who is highly skilled in this subject. A sports therapist is able to assess the posture of the client, and with careful palpation detects the problem areas. Depending on the problem varies treatments take place. The aim of the sports therapist is to work on these problem muscles, tendons and ligaments with a variety of treatments and massage techniques.

A popular misconception is that sports massage is only for sports people...

This is totally wrong; it can be applied to any age and anyone from any walk of life.

Sports massage deals with muscle, tendon and ligaments. As well as massage a sports therapist can offer advice on how to do corrective stretches/exercises to prevent reoccurrence of the problem.

Reiki doesn't interfere with medical treatments or medication.

Sceptical by nature, leaning more to science than alternative therapies I approached my first Reiki session with apprehension. Judith's treatment was relaxing and soothing with her hands alternating from warm to hot, quite surreal! My injury felt so much better after treatment as did an existing shoulder injury which I had not disclosed to Judith prior to the treatment. I would whole heartedly recommend a Reiki session with Judith, either to help with an injury or as an antidote to a hectic lifestyle.

It is important to note that Reiki affects each person differently ~ each person's experience is unique.

Stress & damage to the body

The link between stress and heart disease is well established.

Stress hormones that are not used up lead to raised heart rate and high blood pressure. This can lead to long-term damage.

Decision making and creativity are impaired because stressed individuals are unable to process all the information available.

There are also suggestions of links between stress and cancer.
